Robert Bragg Jr was born on May 24, 1960, in Baltimore, Maryland to Robert Bragg and Manie Lou Cooper. He was the youngest and only son among seven children. Robert was preceded in death by his beloved sisters, Sheila June Bragg and Louella Vontana Jackson.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his four children: Lontina Marie Bragg, Takelia (Kobe) Bragg-Yeboah, Robert (Tenayun) Bragg III, and Chelesy Ja'Nai Carroll; along with ten grandchildren who will forever carry his love, wisdom, and the values instilled in them.
He is also survived by his former wife Tina Bragg for over 25 years and his lovely sisters: Vonnette Lee Cannon, Robena Louise Smith, Denice Sandora Bragg, and Melissa Ann Bragg, in addition to a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were touched by his presence.
Those who knew Robert, knew he was truly one of a kind. Affectionately known as “Bob” he was a man who could do almost anything with his hands. He was the true definition of a jack of all jacks, a skilled mechanic, builder, teacher, cook, fisherman, gardener and provider. He could fix or build just about anything. His knowledge seemed endless, and he never hesitated to share what he knew with the people he loved.
Robert was the kind of father who taught his children many things from working on cars, cooking meals, to enjoying one of his favorite hobbies, fishing and navigating life itself.
He was also known for making his famous hot tamales, one of a kind shrimp egg rolls, the best beef jerky, homemade potato chips, banana chips and popping popcorn on the stove. Robert loved to cook so much you can find him outside in the dead of winter with snow on the ground grilling.
Robert loved music. It was something the feed his soul. Robert was old school with a mixture of rock. You might here Pink Floyd one day and Parliament singing Flashlight and then Too Short “Cocktails” on another day.
Beyond all his talents, what truly made Robert special was the deep love he had for his family. He made sure his children always knew they were loved and cared for through family memories of having cookouts at the park, renting a paddle boat at Maumee Bay, going to the Toledo Zoo, and bowling together as a family. Robert even join a professional bowling league. Robert and his former wife Tina Bragg owned personalize bowling balls and their owed shoes. That’s how seriously it was.
Robert carried himself with style, confidence, and pride, known for his sharp suits, brim hats, and polished appearance from head to toe. He loved to dress to impress and it cleaned up well!
Robert was a man of wisdom, humor, and comfort to many. His laid-back spirit made him easy to talk to. He was a person who you knew was not going to judge you. The are countless people that he helps during in time on Earth. The late-night phone calls, random “I love you” texts, his unforgettable laugh and his reassuring presence will be deeply missed.
Robert Bragg Jr. was more than a father, husband, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was his children’s teacher, protector, peace in the storm, and daddy. There are not enough words to explain how much he meant to those who loved him. But, with absolute certainty, Robert loved you and me right back.
