Becky’s humous, good-natured quick wit will always be remembered fondly amongst her friends and family. Rebecca Rae Klep, 64, of Perrysburg, Ohio, died after a long illness at home amongst her family on March 3, 2024.
She was born the seventh of nine daughters on July 25, 1959 in Oregon, Ohio to Virgil and Dorothy Drummond. Becky insisted that out of her eight sisters she was the only one who was “planned”. Becky attended Genoa and Penta County High Schools graduating in 1977 before her marriage.
Becky met the love of her life, Joseph R. Klep in 1976 while soaping windows on Halloween night. Joe relates that for him it was love at first sight when she asked him to pass the toilet paper. Excited to start their new lives together, the two were married on March 10, 1978 after Joe completed the US Navy’s boot camp. As a newlywed couple, Becky accompanied her husband to Waukegan, Il., Virginia Beach Va., Kings Bay Ga., Charleston SC. And Silver Springs Md.
Becky and Joe started a family of their own, and son James Stuart Klep was born September 10, 1979 at the Naval Regional Medical Center, Portsmouth Va.
Everyone who knew Becky knew how much of a renaissance woman she really was. Her interests and knowledge were wide ranging and included archeology, history, biology and she was a master in ceramics, and the fiber arts. She loved dying wool, rug hooking and all types of various needlecraft as well as traveling, genealogy, birding, canoeing and camping.
Becky will always be remembered for her kindness and her concern for others. She was very astute where other people’s feelings were concerned and she is missed by her many friends and family members every day. Her memory lives on in the hearts of all those who knew her and loved her.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Janet, Joan, Peggy and Frances and is survived by husband Joe, son James, and sisters Jean, Nan, Ginny, and Toni.
A memorial service is planned for a later date. Donations to Hospice of Northwest Ohio would be greatly appreciated.
