Mark Kelvin Shaffer Sr.

Mark Kelvin Shaffer Sr. was born to Mathis Edward & Alma Faye (Herring) Shaffer on January 10th, 1962 in Dyersburg, Tennessee. He departed his earthly body on May 29th, 2023, in Toledo, Ohio. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and took joy in his religion. Mark attended Macomber Vocational School, going on to become a Culinary Entrepreneur. He began his career at age 16, cooking in the Forum Cafeteria and would later operate his own restaurants “Shaffer’s Hot Foods”. He became widely known for his skills, proudly serving local workers and schools his delicious meals. He had a tremendous work ethic. Mark was also called to ministry and began serving as a Deacon in 1988 at The Body of Christ Fellowship in Toledo. Serving under Pastor Peggy Moore, he was licensed to preach the gospel in 2001. True to his profession, cooking was his favorite pastime. He took pride in his work & family, and he loved The Lord. He enjoyed spending time with his grandbabies, whom he affectionately referred to as his Sugarpies. He was a gentle giant.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Mathis & Alfa Faye Shaffer. Brothers; Michael & Brian Shaffer. He leaves to cherish his memory his sons; Dawon (Robin) Sibby- Shaffer & Mark Shaffer Jr. Sisters; Shelia, Karen & Cathy Shaffer of Toledo, OH. Renee Lomax & Ameka Harris of Gary, IN. Granddaughters; Brooklyn & Brightyn Shaffer. Bonus Grandsons; Elijah Pope & Malik Williams. Special Niece, Aciata Shaffer and a host of other nieces, nephews and beloved family.
