Marion Mathis

Marion "Scrappy" Mathis departed this life peacefully to be with the Lord on August 6, 2025, surrounded by family. Marion was born on September 1, 1963 in Toledo, OH, to the union of William E. Reese and Doris Bell. Marion professed his faith in God at an early age and last attended New Covenant Church of the Living God. Marion attended Toledo Public Schools and was most proud to be "Once A Bulldog Always A Bulldog!" He was trained as a phlebotomist and worked several years at a plasma center as well as various other jobs. His main passion was being self-employed renovating homes and interior design. He was a die hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He loved spending time with family and friends on holidays and any event, especially if there was karaoke singing his favorite Rance Allen or Anita Baker song. 

Marion was preceded in death father: William Reese; grandparents: Archie and Marion Bell; Jimmy and Rebecca White; sisters: Demetria and Kimberly Mathis, Gladys Fordham; nephew: Donnell Mathis and son: Marcus White.

Marion Leaves to cherish loving memories his mother: Doris Reese; children: Monique Mathis, Willima Mathis, Sharvada Mathis, Sharita Moses, Shontae Perkins, ReNita Jones, Efia Kynard; 14 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brothers: Bryant Mathis, Victor Bell, Casino Stacker; sisters: Robin Mathis, Vanessa Pope, Christine Reese-Love (Frank), Regina Reese, Rean Fisher; and longtime girlfriend: Tracy Thompson; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; good friends: Terry Hughes, Charles Malone, Frand Brown and Porky.

Visitation for Marion will be held at Mount Nebo Baptist Church, 831 N. Detroit Ave., Toledo, OH 43607 on Saturday, August 16, 2025 from 11:00 until the time of the funeral ceremony at 12:00 P.M with Pastor Brock officiating.
