Karis Ann Cocke, age 83, of Grand Rapids, OH passed away November 5, 2024. Karis was born in Grand Rapids, OH to the late Carl and Cecelia Yawberg. Besides her parents, Karis is also preceded in death by her husband: Gust "Butch" Cocke; brother: Richard Yawberg; sisters: Jackie Cocke, Janice Davis; K-9 companion: Leah.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter: Sara (Jeff) Frost; son: Brett (Dawn) Cocke, grandchildren: Logan Frost, Brody Frost, Krista (Tom) Wilson; Amanda Cocke (Carl Vaughn), Brent (Amber) Cocke; great grandchildren: Brian Cocke, Layne Cocke.
Karis graduated from Bowling Green State University with her bachelor's degree in education. She married the love of her life, Butch on December 23, 1960, and he passed away on September 3, 2007. Karis taught at Grand Rapids Elementary School and Otsego School for 36 years until her retirement. She was a Jennings Scholar recipient, active member of Calvary United Methodist Church and Grand Rapids Order of the Eastern Stars. She enjoyed line dancing traveling, spending time at her cottages on Crooked Lake in Angola, IN, listening to Elvis Presley but most of all she loved her church and her family.
Visitation will be held at Grand Rapids Calvary Church, 24362 3rd Street, Grand Rapids, OH 43522 on Saturday November 9, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with pastor Scott Carman officiating.
