John Teska Obituary

John Lee Teska was born in Toledo, Ohio on November 26, 1966 to Linda and Robert Teska.  John attended Waite High School, and shortly after enlisted in the United States Navy.  John, as a Seabee, was stationed in many ports around the globe, including Korea, Australia, Puerto Rico, and the Middle East during the opening days of Operation Desert Storm.  However, by far his favorite posting was in California, aboard the USS New Jersey, BB62.  John had a fondness for the days of old, as evidenced by his love of old buildings, old cars, old music, and various historical documentaries.  After being honorably discharged from the Navy, John served in the Navy Reserves and became a refrigeration technician working for the H&F Refrigeration Company.  John completed his career when he became ill and could no longer work.  John was a gregarious man, and was well liked by his customers and co-workers.  Outside of the workplace, John enjoyed many hobbies.  He was fond of his vegetable garden, offering friends and family the extras that it produced.  He was also an avid cook, always tinkering with a recipe or dish until it was “just right”.  John enjoyed working on cars, and riding motorcycles.  His love of theater organs will likely remain unrivaled among the many people who knew him, and of his love for the music they produced.  He spent many hours listening to recordings from such theaters as the Paramount, the Senate, and the Detroit Fox Theater.  John was also an avid photographer, taking many pictures while stationed around the globe.  John had a solid group of friends, all with varying interests, who were a large part of his life.  John was a good man, a good friend, dutiful son, brother, and Uncle.  John will be dearly missed by those whose lives he touched.  John passed away at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio on October 21, 2022, surrounded by family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his father Robert, and sister Nancy.  He leaves behind mother Linda, brothers Troy and David, and sister Erika.  By John’s request, there will be no showing, and his ashes to be returned to the sea.  A memorial of John’s life will be held in early 2023, and will be announced on social media.
