Deacon Henry E. Temple
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Deacon Henry Edward Temple, who was born on January 26, 1940 to the late Louis and Queenie (Wallace) Temple of Decatur Mississippi, and departed this life on December 19, 2025, at the age of 85.
Henry, throughout his life, was known for his sharp wit and clever nature. A passionate gardener, he devoted much of his time to growing an impressive array of vegetables. Each year, he graciously sponsored an Annual Garden Party at the conclusion of the harvest, where all could partake in the rewards of his hard work.
A devoted member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, Henry was honored with the ordination of deacon on November 14, 1973, by Pastor Jasper Wiggins, a role he held in the highest regard and diligently fulfilled until his health began to decline.
Henry, having held various positions throughout his working life, began his career as a general laborer at Interlake Iron. He later secured the position of Bobcat Operator at A.A. Boos & Sons, where he dedicated many years of service until his retirement.
Preceding him in death are his parents. 8 brothers and 8 sisters; To cherish his loving memory he leaves his children; E. Charles (Judy) Temple of Denver Colorado, Bettye (Chuck) DeAniello- King of Toledo, Ohio, Tenia Hancock of Tupelo, Mississippi, Keela Temple of Atlanta Georgia Temp, and son Tyreece Herron, of Toledo, Ohio.
Grandchildren; Donzelle Brown, Reginald (Jeanna) Temple, Jamela (Derrick) Hamilton, Courtney Boose, Coral Jones, Timothy Temple, Crystal Jones Jourdan (Tierra) DeAniello.
Great-Grandchildren; Shari, Cannan, Alyssa, Nicole, C’Nya, Janay, Collin, Eli, Trinity, Cali, Jala, Aryah, Nariyah, Zsanai, Anthony, Kaylonni, Chance, Devin, Jayla. Siblings; Catherine Davis, Margaret (Herb) Gullatt; Ex-Wife Laverne Temple of Jackson, Mississippi; 4 Great-Great Grandchildren and a special companion Sandra Hayward along with her daughter and grandson Danielle & Drue Hayward, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Deacon Henry E. Temple at a memorial service on December 27, 2025, at Zion Hill Baptist Church. The Family Hour will begin at 12:00 noon, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 PM. Henry’s memory will be cherished by all whose lives he touched, and his absence will be deeply felt. May he rest in peace.
