George McGorty

George McGorty, 70, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away on November 29. He was born on August 9, 1955, in Brooke County, West Virginia, to George and Evelyn McGorty.

George was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and he took great joy in hosting Monday Night Football gatherings. Being surrounded by family and friends meant everything to him, and his fun-loving spirit always made him the life of the party.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Basden-McGorty; his son Jeremy (Blanca) McGorty; his stepdaughter Yvonne (Rick) Schaber; grandchildren Marcello (Lauren) McGorty, Maricella (Michael) McGorty, Jackie (Jesse) Laurell-Brink, Lance Laurell, Rickey Schaber, Raymond Schaber, Rachel Schaber, and Ryan Schaber; and great-grandchild Hayden McGorty. He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepson Donne “Bino” Laurell.

A visitation will be held for George on Thursday, December 4th, from 2:00–7:00 PM at Habegger Funeral Home, 2001 Consaul St., Toledo, OH 43605, followed by a service on Friday, December 5th, at 10:00 AM. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate his life.
