Gary Lee McElfresh

Gary L. McElfresh, age 78, of Toledo, OH passed away September 9, 2025, surrounded by his family. Gary was born on September 23, 1946, to the late Abram and Irma (Fisher) McElfresh at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren, Ohio. Gary had one sibling, a younger brother, the late Dennis McElfresh of Niles, Ohio.

Gary graduated from Mineral Ridge High School in Mineral Ridge, Ohio in 1964. He was employed by U.S. Steel before joining the U.S. Navy in 1965. He served in the U.S. Navy for 6 years and earned the rank of Petty Officer Second Class prior to receiving and Honorable Discharge in 1971. He then went to work for the United States Post Office for 27 years. He worked in several cities and held several administrative positions before retiring as Director of Finance for the Office in Toledo.

Gary married the love of his life, Carol (Boughamer) in 1965 and they have been married for 59 years. They have 3 sons: Gary Alan, Kevin Lee (Lori) and Jeffrey Aaron (Melissa). They have 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Gary petitioned Rubicon Lodge in 1987 and was raised a Master Mason in 1988. That same year he joined all 3 York Bodies Chapter Council and Commanderies. He also joined the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Toledo and Zenobia Shrine.

A service will be held on September 27. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM with a service starting at 12:00 PM.  The service will be held at the Browning Masonic Community in Harmony Hall. The Address is 8883 Browning Drive, Waterville Ohio, 43566.
