Donald (AKA Don or Grump) Glen Waltermire

Don celebrated his last birthday on October 8th and passed away November 17, 2024, with his wife Brenda (AKA Bag) by his side.

Don was born in 1952 in Lima, Ohio to Harry G. (Ike) and Cretora (Gross) Waltermire. He has one brother David (Rhonda) Waltermire who lives in St. Marys, Ohio. On August 9, 1980 he married Brenda in Westminster, Ohio. Don is the father of two children, Joshua G. Waltermire and Elisha K. (Derek) Schick and the grandfather (Grump) to Caynan, Kinley, Caisen and Juliauna.

Don graduated from Allen East High School, and you could usually find him with his band trying to be a rock and roll star or wrenching on muscle cars. He continued to gain mechanical knowledge and worked at Clark Lift with industrial truck services and received multiple certificates. He was hired at Ford Motor Company Lima Engine Plant and topped off his career after 32 years retiring in September 2018.

He loved riding motorcycles but hung up his leathers for a while once he became a family man later to trade in a single seater for a sidecar. He began restoring classic cars, and fiddle-farting in the barn with his dogs. You could catch him traveling to support flat track racing, watching westerns and the Cleveland Browns.

You could find him at EVERY soccer, baseball and basketball game for his grandkids. 

Most of all, he experienced life and enjoyed living to the fullest as a great husband, father and the best grandfather (Grump).

We ask those of you who would like to be a part of this next chapter, be present, hold your family tighter, love your spouse a bit more and cherish your time here. In lieu of a funeral, we will celebrate his life this coming spring at Ottawa Metro Park on June 7, 2025, from 9-5. Be ready to laugh and share a memory as we continue to carry joy from his life.
