On Sunday, September 6, 2020, Delbert Russell passed away in Perrysburg, Ohio, at the age of 77 after a short battle with cancer.
Del was born in Toledo, Ohio in April of 1943 to parents Delbert and Elanor Russell. Del was the youngest of two children.
Del was not one for formal education, instead, he learned at the school of hard knocks. He was a teacher of this school as well. He had a passion for mechanics and electronics. He souped up his cars to make them faster and CB radios to reach farther than anyone could have imagined. He also was a carpenter; he could fashion furniture as well as frame buildings. He held everyone to his high standards, never accepting anything but the best work.
Even after he retired, Del stayed busy. He would tinker with this and that, trying to make things work better. He loved to figure out what made things work. When he met Denise, he started helping her around her farm; fixing equipment, building contraptions to help her business out and discovering a love of the farming lifestyle.
Del was preceded in death by his parents and sister.
Del is survived by the best wife he never had, Denise Hook, her children Jason and Jacob Hook; his children, Robert J. (Mindy) Russell, Anthony (Marie) Russell, Richard Russell, Brenda (Riley) Franklin; his grandchildren, Robert B. Russell, Cody Russell, Alyssa Crumley, James (Alejandra) Lee, Matthew Lee; and great grandchildren Hayden Crumley and Michelle Lee.
Close family and friends will hold a private service at the farm. This is where he spent the last several happy years of his life with the love of his life, Denise.
