Darlene S. Braddock, 77, of Toledo, Ohio passed away Saturday, August 6, 2023 after a long full life. She was born on May 20, 1946, in Millbury, Ohio to William and Thelma (St. John) Pieper. Darlene was surrounded by her loved ones and will be missed very much. She was a devoted wife, sister, mother, aunt and grandmother who was always there when we needed her. She also had many friends and was well-loved.
She loved babies, and could usually be found holding one if there were little ones around, she was "in her glory" as we would say, whenever she had a baby in her arms. She also loved to cook and bake, and loved to have her family around her enjoying her food, she also loved to cook for special events when she could. She was the youngest of 12 kids, born in Oregon, Ohio and raised in Millbury, Ohio. She always wanted to travel around the world, that's been her dream since as far back as I can remember, she wanted to get an RV and travel and often talked about moving to Tennessee after her husband Howard retired.
She is preceded in death by her parents William and Thelma, former partner Charles Carmony, brothers Fred, William, Herman, Melvin, Donald and Chester Pieper; sisters Delores Zernhel, Thelma Jacob, Alma Mahaffey; and great granddaughter Kyla Kay Brown.
She is survived by her husband Howard Braddock and her dog Hooch; sister Carole Jacob, brother, Richard Pieper; children Phillip (Linda) Buckner Jr, John (Taomi Lanning) Buckner, Annette Buckner; grandchildren, Amanda Buckner, Phillip (Stephanie) Buckner III, Heather Buckner, Kayla (Cyn) Strong, Caitlin (Jerren) Brown, Devon (Maryjane Angel) Buckner Sr., Michael (Amanda) Bruce, Terry (Nichole) Irish and Tyler (Crystal) Irish; and 18 great grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
