Cheryl R. Banks-Weller

Cheryl R. Banks-Weller, a lifelong resident of Point Place, Toledo, Ohio, passed away on June 3, 2026. Born on February 7, 1957, she was the cherished daughter of the late Robert W. and Norma J. (Bowling) Banks.

A proud Polar Bear, Cheryl graduated from Woodward High School in 1975. Her strong work ethic began early in life, serving her community at Cypher’s Restaurant in Point Place. She went on to build a dedicated career, lending her talents to Owens-Illinois, Chrysler Jeep, and Kuka Manufacturing over the years.

In her younger years, Cherly was married to David Spadlin where they shared their love for their daughter, Brooks. Cheryl found true partnership and joy when she married Gerald "Gerry" Weller. Though she left us just two days shy of their 22nd wedding anniversary, the love and laughter they shared will endure forever.

Cheryl lived life with an adventurous spirit and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. Whether she was tending to her meticulously cared-for yard, boating, camping, or fishing for spawning salmon, she was happiest in nature. She found a special peace at her second home in Rogers Lake, Montana, and was a proud, recent inductee of the Toledo Ice-Boat Yacht Club. Above all, Cheryl cherished connection. She anchored her life around her family and friends, treasuring every moment spent together, especially the lively gatherings with her cousins. Cheryl also had a generous and compassionate heart. She often assembled care bags full with essential items and personally handed them out to people experiencing homelessness.

Her legacy of love, warmth, and vibrant energy lives on in the family she adored. She is survived by her devoted husband, Gerald B. Weller, her daughter, Brooks (Gilberto) Acevedo and her granddaughter, Delanie Cheeks. She also leaves behind her nephew, D.J. Spradlin, whom she cared for and loved as her own. Among those cherishing her memory are her sisters, Karen Kelley and Bobbie-Jo Banks; her brothers, Michael (Cindy) Myers and Jeff (Missy) Banks. Amy Herzig and David Weller; and her loyal, beloved dog, Mojo, who will miss her dearly.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Norma Banks, and her brothers, Robert and Thomas Michael "T.M." Banks.

Cheryl’s bright spirit, dedication to her family, and love for life's simple pleasures will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.

 A Celebration of Cheryl’s Life will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at the Ottawa River Yacht Club, 5844 Edgewater Drive, Toledo, Ohio 43611.
